This is another one of those recipes where you kinda think to yourself “damn, I guess every time I bought one of these at my local philly cheesesteak restaurant for $17 I could have meal prepped it for better macros & a lower price”. Well, fear not, dear reader, because with this recipe you will never need to have that moment again. This is one of my personal favorites, and while I personally like to cook everything up together on a flat-top Blackstone grill, you can definitely cook it up in your kitchen.

Ingredients

Main Course

  • 2 lbs Lean Steak Cut into thin strips
  • 2 Medium Bell Peppers Sliced
  • 3 Medium JalapeƱos Sliced
  • 1 Medium Yellow Onion Sliced
  • 8 oz Baby Bella Mushrooms Sliced
  • 4 Cloves Garlic Minced
  • 16 oz Mozzarella & Provolone Cheese Blend Shredded
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Cup Jasmine Rice
  • 1 Tbsp Butter Salted
  • 2 tbsp Paprika
  • 2 tbsp Italian Seasonings
  • 1 tbsp Seasoned Salt
  • 1 tbsp Pepper

Instructions

  • Slice steak into thin 1/2 inch strips & place in a medium bowl.
    2 lbs Lean Steak
  • Slice bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, & jalapenos (include seeds for a spicier version). Place in a bowl separate from the steak & add minced garlic to the mixture.
2 Medium Bell Peppers, 3 Medium JalapeƱos, 1 Medium Yellow Onion, 8 oz Baby Bella Mushrooms, 4 Cloves Garlic
  • Combine seasonings in a small bowl. Evenly mix, & then equally split the seasonings mixture between your steak & vegetables mix.
2 tbsp Paprika, 2 tbsp Italian Seasonings, 1 tbsp Seasoned Salt, 1 tbsp Pepper
  • Add 1 tbsp olive oil to each of the bowls, & mix until the seasonings are well-incorporated.
    2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • Start cooking the rice using your preferred method (I prefer a rice cooker because they are so consistent & easy. Add 1 tbsp butter to the rice because it improves the rice quality.
1 Cup Jasmine Rice, 1 Tbsp Butter

Cooking the Ingredients

  • Option 1: Cook everything in one batch over a flat-top grill. This is very similar to how most philly cheesesteak restaurants do it, so you have this equipment, it is highly recommended. Bulk cook ~10 minutes, until steak is no longer pink, then remove to a large skillet.
  • Option 2: If you do not have a large flat-top grill, cook in ~4 batches over the stove top. Try not to crowd the pan by layering the steak or veggies too much.
  • Option 2 (cont.): Add a little extra olive oil to your pan, & fry vegetables until tender ~5-6 minutes per batch. Remove to a separate plate, add a little more olive oil to the pan, & fry the steak until no longer pink ~4-5 minutes per batch. When done remove all ingredients to a large skillet.
  • When done cooking the vegetables & steak & have combined everything to a large skillet, add your mozzarella & provolone cheese blend to the top. Turn heat to medium low, & cover. Heat the mixture until the cheese has fully melted.
16 oz Mozzarella & Provolone Cheese Blend
  • When done, combine rice with your hot & cheesy philly cheesesteak ingredients. Enjoy!
